When Waiting Feels Hard: Trusting God’s Timing Over My Own

There are seasons in life when waiting feels unbearable. We pray, we plan, and we try to make things happen in our own way — but deep down, we know God’s timing is never rushed and never late. Recently, I almost made a decision purely from my own instinct. I was tired of waiting, tired of feeling stuck, and I convinced myself that maybe I needed to take matters into my own hands.

But God has a way of gently stopping us in our tracks. The moment I started moving forward on my own timing, I felt an unease in my spirit — that quiet nudge reminding me, “Be still, and know that I am God.” It wasn’t peace; it was pressure. And I’ve learned that anything that rushes you isn’t from God. His will comes with calm assurance, not chaos.

Waiting isn’t easy. It tests our patience, our faith, and our trust. But in the waiting, God works — shaping our hearts, preparing what’s ahead, and protecting us from what we can’t see yet. Looking back, I’m grateful He didn’t let me run ahead. That “almost” was actually grace.

If you’re in a season where it feels like nothing is moving, remember: God’s timing is not a delay — it’s divine preparation. The same God who promised is faithful to perform it when the time is right.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11

Where in your life do you need to let go of your own timing and trust God’s?
